Canadian-born, U.K.-based comedian Katherine Ryan was faced with a scary situation yesterday (October 20), when a masked intruder attempted to burgle her London home — including a laptop filled with scripts for an upcoming Netflix project. In since-deleted social media posts, the stand-up comedian claimed that her boyfriend Bobby Kootstra chased the burglar down the street and managed to wrestle back a laptop containing all of her scripts for the upcoming Netflix series The Duchess.
Unfortunately for the burglar, Ryan's partner was a defensive back on the 2005 Wilfrid Laurier University Vanier Cup championship football team.
Unfortunately for Kootstra, his championship ring remains stolen even after the scuffle.
Is there a way to circulate this foreshadowing ring around pawn shops that the masked man stole before he was tackled into the street? pic.twitter.com/XGZP6eJOsN

Ryan's since-deleted Instagram posts also featured images of the police at her home, with the caption: "Cool to be robbed tonight by a masked man in our home." She also cracked jokes about her dogs being the "worst guard dogs ever."
Ryan released her stand-up special Glitter Room on Netflix earlier this year. The Duchess is an original series that follows Ryan's character, described as a "fashionably disruptive single mom." It does not yet have an official release date.
