David Arquette Is to Blame for Courteney Cox's Awful 'Scream 3' Bangs
Now that David Arquette is fully onboard to reprise his role as Dewey Riley in the upcoming fifth instalment of the Scream franchise, he has come out with some truths about a decades-old question about Scream 3: what is with Courteney Cox's tiny bangs? As it turns out, the haircut was totally Arquette's fault.

In a new interview with ET, Arquette admitted that he encouraged his then-wife "to go fully in" on a Bettie Page look for her role as Gale Weathers — but her instructions didn't translate at the hairdresser's.

"The bangs were my fault," he told ET. "We all wish that it never happened. Unfortunately, it lives forever on film. But I apologize to everyone out there. But she was a real good sport, she did some Instagram posts where she sort of cut her bangs and that really was fun."

Arquette and Cox are both set to return for Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett's Scream 5, alongside Neve Campbell who will reprise her role as Sydney Prescott.

Scream 5 is tentatively scheduled to be released sometime next year, pandemic pending. It will be the first entry in the franchise following the death of creator Wes Craven in 2015. The most recent instalment of the franchise was 2011's Scream 4. Arquette and Cox have appeared in all four films so far.
