Though she's had a fairly robust career so far, Margo Robbie managed to carve out some superstar status for herself when she played Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad and, uh, whatever the Harley Quinn movie was officially called. Up next, she'll hopefully harness some similar manic energy in a new Pirates of the Caribbean spinoff.

Christina Hodson, who scripted the Birds of Prey movie, has come on board to write the film, which is expected to be the start of a female-led Pirates franchise.

As The Hollywood Reporter explains, this is a separate project from the other Pirates reboot that is currently being developed by original Pirates writer Ted Elliott and Chernobyl's Craig Mazin.

The most recent Pirates film was Dead Men Tell No Tales, which was released in 2017.
