'MythBusters' Co-Host Grant Imahara Dead at 49

Grant Imahara, a Hollywood mainstay whose many accomplishments included co-hosting MythBusters, has died. He was 49.

News of Imahara's death was confirmed to the New York Times by the Discovery Channel last night (July 13). A cause of death was not revealed, although it was believed to have been a brain aneurysm. 

"We are heartbroken to hear this sad news about Grant," Discovery said in a statement. "He was an important part of our Discovery family and a really wonderful man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family."

Prior to MythBusters, Imahara had worked as an animatronics engineer and model maker for George Lucas's Industrial Light & Magic. He operated R2-D2 in the Star Wars prequels. 

Further, Imahara worked on Terminator 3: Rise of the MachinesThe Lost World: Jurassic Park and the Matrix sequels. 

Imahara is survived by his fiancée Jennifer Newman.
