Published Jun 16, 2016After the loss of bandmates and a stressful heart problem, a dark album from Aaron Marshall's Intervals would have been a reasonable expectation, but the metal mastermind instead delivered The Shape of Colour, an album as bright in tone and intelligence as the hues that adorn its cover. He's similarly upbeat when talking about the project to Exclaim! TV's Aggressive Tendencies.
In our latest episode, the guitarist speaks about the decision to tune up and drop the seventh string to play in the natural register of the instrument, and his intention to maintain stability amidst chaos: despite all the changes happening around him, Marshall says he'll always make music with his guitar, and that he'll continue to work with his current band members Plini and Nathan Bulla (Auras) on future projects.
Watch the interview to hear about this, the first guitar riff he wrote after surgery and why there's no time like the present for instrumental music in the clip below.
