Donovan Woods Releases New Single "Clean Slate"

Donovan Woods Releases New Single 'Clean Slate'
Donovan Woods has returned with a new single. You can hear "Clean Slate" alongside a lyric video below.

"Clean Slate" follows recent single "Grew Apart" and was co-written with Jeremy Spillman and Tucker Beathard. The song also features production from Todd Clark (Noah Kahan, Dua Lipa).

"This is a love song about falling in love and how it makes you feel like you're a new person," Woods explained in a statement. "But slowly you realize you're still the same person with all the hang-ups you've always had, and it's a drag. It feels like the narrator will hear this song five years from now and feel embarrassed. What I love about it is that it feels like a very pure expression by someone with the best intentions."

Late last month, Woods committed to supporting artists, creatives and business that have had their livelihoods impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic through the release of new music.

"We'll be diverting funds that would normally go to advertising and hiring independent creators," Woods wrote of his rollout on Instagram. "We'll be using promo budgets to support Black-owned and Indigenous-owned businesses, and partnering with independent record stores to make ordering vinyl easier and more meaningful."

In 2019, Woods released The Other Way, a reimagining of his 2018 LP Both Ways.
